My chainsaw is shutting down during use?

22/04/2025, 11:55

Start with the Battery!!!
Is your battery warm or even hot to touch. After continuous use or in warmer ambient temperatures your battery can become very hot. Chances are that your battery may go into Over Temperature Mode – effectively shutting down until the cells have cooled down. Best advice: Either swap to another battery or wait for your battery to cool down.

Are you pushing or forcing the saw into the log?
In the event that the chain is stalling or cutting out frequently check the way in which you are using the tool. Let the chainsaw do the work for you, you do not need to push down hard or force the unit, apply even and light to medium pressure in order to achieve best performance.

Are you running the tool at full power continuously?
Using full power unnecessarily drains the battery faster. Adjust your trigger inputs as needed to extend battery life.

Is the chain tensioned properly?
Make sure the chain is properly tensioned; you can use the knob on the side of the chainsaw. A loose chain can increase vibration levels and cause additional load on the motor.

Is the chain dull?
A dull chain strains the motor and can cause shutdowns. Sharpen or replace the chain as needed.

Are you trying to cut through too-thick material?
Cutting through material that's too thick can overload the motor. Use the chainsaw within its power and capacity limits. Make sure to get the right tool for your job.

Is the chain lubricated adequately?
Ensure the chain is properly lubricated by checking the oil reservoir and the oil delivery system.
