What should I do if the tool stops unexpectedly?

13/02/2026, 14:23

Why This Happens

The cutter may stop turning while the cable is still rotating due to:

  • Excessive resistance from a blockage.
  • Cable overstress or kinking.
  • Incorrect operation (e.g., forcing the cable forward too quickly).

Step 1: Release the Trigger

  • Immediately release the switch trigger to stop the cable from rotating.
  • This prevents further stress on the cable and cutter.

Step 2: Inspect the Cable

  • Check for kinks, twists, or knots along the cable.
  • If the cable is tangled, straighten it before continuing.

Step 3: Clear the Obstruction

  • Set the cable clamp to locked.
  • Pull the cable back slightly to relieve pressure on the cutter.
  • If the cable is free to move again, then unlock the cable and using the auto feed on reverse pull out the partial block. (DO NOT use the auto on reverse for extended periods of time, pull out the cable manually if the cable is extended too far)
  • This will need to be repeated multiple times for suborn blocks
  • Avoid forcing the cable forward—let the cutter do the work.

Step 4: Check Auto feed Mechanism

  • If using auto feed, disengage it temporarily and feed the cable manually.
  • Re-engage auto feed only when the cutter rotates smoothly.

Step 5: If Problem Persists

  • Remove the battery.
  • Remove the cable completely and inspect for damage.
  • Replace the cable if it is kinked or broken.

Safety Reminder

  • Never grasp the rotating cable with bare hands or loose-fitting gloves.
