Cleaning the chuck to improve performance
- Debris in the chuck jaws can make adjusting or tightening the chuck difficult or stiff.
Steps to clean the chuck:
- Fully open the chuck to expose the internal jaws.
- Use compressed air (from a can or air compressor) to blow out dust and debris from inside the chuck.
- For stubborn build-up, use a small cylindrical brush or pipe cleaner to gently scrub the inside of the jaws.
- Cycle the chuck open and closed several times to help loosen and remove any remaining debris.
Keeping the chuck clean ensures smoother operation and better grip on drill bits.
