Is it possible to remove the auger cable from the Ryobi drain auger?

When manually pulling out the auger cable STOP when you see the retention stop on the cable (looks like a bulge in the cable)

It is possible to fully pull out the auger cable if you manually pull out the cable past the retention stop. Simply reinsert the auger cable

Before You Begin

• Remove the battery to prevent accidental starting.
• Wear protective gloves (never latex or loose-fitting gloves).
• Ensure the work area is clean and well-lit.

Step 1: Inspect the Cable

• Check the cable for kinks, twists, or damage before reinserting.
• Straighten the cable as much as possible to prevent binding inside the drum.

Step 2: Position the Tool

• Place the drain auger on a stable surface.
• Ensure the drum opening is accessible and clear of debris.

Step 3: Feed the Cable Back into the Drum

1. Set the auto feed lock to Manual
2. Set the cable clamp to unlock
3. Set the feed direction to reverse
4. Manually insert the cable into the drum through the cable guide.
5. Push the cable in slowly while rotating it slightly by hand to help it seat properly.
6. Continue feeding until the cable reaches its normal starting position inside the drum.
