Step	Action
1	Before you begin, it's recommended you wear eye and ear protection and a pair of quality gloves to protect your hands from splinters.
2	To get a starting height for the cutting drum, wind the handle up and slide the timber in.
3	Next wind the handle back until the cutter just rests on the timber.
4	Noting the position of the handle, wind it back up two-turns and slide the timber out.
5	To set your first planning depth, wind the handle exactly 3 turns, 2 turns to get you back to the top of the timber, and one to get the cutters at the first planning depth of around 1mm
