1. Ensure safety first
- Disconnect the battery pack before inserting or removing any drill or driver bit.
2. Locate the chuck
- An impact driver uses a ¼" (6.35 mm) quick-release hex chuck.
- This chuck is designed for hex-shank bits only.
- Ensure the drill bit has a ¼" (6.35 mm) hex shank.
3. Insert the new drill bit
- Pull the chuck collar forward (away from the tool).
- Insert the new hex-shank bit into the chuck.
- Release the collar to lock the bit in place.
4. Confirm the bit is secure
- Gently tug on the bit to ensure it’s locked in and won’t fall out.
- If it pulls free, repeat the insertion process.
5. Reconnect the battery
- Reconnect the battery pack.
- Grip the drill by the handle, ensuring your other hand is clear of the drill bit.
- Gently squeeze the trigger to ensure the bit spins correctly.
