How to Fix a Jammed Handle on a RYOBI 210mm Mitre Saw

Safety First

  • Unplug saw from power outlet
  • Wear gloves to protect your hands.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Pull down the handle and hold it in the lowered position
This relieves pressure on the locking pin.
  2. Locate the locking pin on the right-hand side of the saw
    • If the pin is stuck, gently wiggle it while pulling outward.
    • Do not force it with excessive pressure—this can damage the mechanism.
  3. Apply light lubrication if needed
    • Use a small amount of silicone spray or dry lubricant around the pin area to free any debris or dust.
    • Wipe away excess lubricant to avoid attracting more dust.
  4. Check for obstructions
    • Inspect the area around the pin and handle for sawdust or debris.
    • Clean thoroughly using a brush or vacuum.
  5. Release the pin fully and slowly raise the handle
    • Once the pin moves freely, pull it all the way out and gently lift the handle.
    • Check that the handle moves up and down without resistance.
  6. Test the lock/unlock function
    • Push the pin back in to lock the handle, then pull it out to unlock.
