Chainsaw won't start

05/05/2025, 12:12

Is the chain brake on?
Check if the chain brake is engaged because this will prevent the chainsaw from running. Look at the chain brake handle located on top of the chainsaw, just in front of the top handle. When the chain brake lever is pushed towards the bar, the chain should stop immediately.

Is the chain tensioned correctly?
Make sure the chain is tensioned correctly. An over-tensioned chain can engage the overload protection in the tool. The chain should fit snugly and properly onto the guide bar's groove, use the knob on the side of the chainsaw to help tension the chain. It is important not to over tight the chain.

Is the battery low?
Check the battery’s charge level indicator, ensure the battery is fully charged.

Has the battery overheated?
Make sure the battery isn’t hot. RYOBI batteries have overheated protection built into them. If the battery is too hot, the tool will not start until the battery has cooled. Please wait 15 minutes for the batteries to cool down and then try again.
