Why Does My Mower Stop When Cutting Thick Grass?

05/12/2025, 13:03

This is usually caused by motor overload. Here’s what to do:

  • Raise Cutting Height: Start at the highest setting and gradually lower it after each pass.
  • Mow in Stages: For very tall grass, cut in two or three passes rather than forcing the mower through thick growth.
  • Check Battery Charge: Low battery power reduces torque, making it harder to cut dense grass.
  • Clear Debris: Inspect the deck for clogs or buildup that can restrict airflow and strain the motor.
  • Slow Down: Walk at a slower pace to give the blade more time to cut effectively.
  • Use HP Batteries: High-performance batteries provide better power for demanding conditions.
