Belt Sander motor gets hot

28/01/2026, 16:13

Safety First: Remove the battery or disconnect from power

Important: Always wear the correct protective equipment before maintenance. Dust mask or respirator P2, FFP2, or N95.

Check air vents for blockages
Blocked air vents reduce airflow and can cause the motor to overheat.
• Inspect vents for sawdust or debris.
• Clean vents using a small paintbrush.
• If a blockage is found, the unit must be cleaned at home before further use.

Avoid excessive pressure
Forcing the sander or applying too much pressure can overheat the motor.
• Use light, even pressure and maintain a steady feed rate.

Verify belt tension
Incorrect belt tension increases friction and heat.
• Remove the belt and reassemble using the tracking knob as per the manual.

Ensure belt alignment
Belt sanders have an overlapping joint that must be fitted correctly.
• Follow directional arrows printed inside the belt.
• Match the belt arrows with those on the tool—incorrect alignment can cause breakage.
