When to Replace My Chainsaw Chain

Replace the chain if you notice any of the following:

1. Damaged or worn cutting teeth
If the teeth are chipped, rounded, cracked, or uneven, the chain can no longer cut efficiently and should be replaced.

2. Sharpening no longer helps
When repeated sharpening fails to restore cutting performance, the chain has reached the end of its service life.

3. Increased vibration or rough cutting
Excessive vibration, burning smells, or difficulty cutting—even with proper tension and lubrication—are strong indicators that the chain is worn out.
