What is the reset button on a RYOBI Air Compressor used for?

The ‘Reset Button’ resets the motor after the circuit breaker has ‘tripped it’, which protects the electric motor from burn out or any time it’s under extreme load. Once tripped, the motor will not run.
Reset it by pressing the button located in the front of the pump.
Any time the unit has not been switched on or off using the Air Compressor's power button, the unit has not allowed for unloading to occur, stalling the engine, and potentially then leading to the motor's circuit breaker system tripping. Once tripped, the Air Compressor will not run. By pressing the reset button the Air Compressor will return to its initial state.
It's important for the long-term use of your unit to only turn the Air Compressor on or off using its Power Button.
