What to do if your RYOBI Edger isn't cutting properly

20/09/2022, 10:21

If your RYOBI Edger isn't cutting properly, try the following:

  • Check the condition of your blade. If the blade is blunt or damaged it will need to be replaced. A blunt blade has teeth that have rounded off or are no longer visible.
  • Raise the height of the blade in order to reduce the strain on the edger for the first cut. The blade can be lowered  for the second cut once the initial cut has cleared the bulk of the overgrowth.
  • For 18V or 36V battery: check the battery has charge by pressing the fuel gauge.
  • For AC: Turn off the powerpoint switch and check the cord is inserted correctly in the extension lead. Use a heavy-duty extension lead no longer than 25m for optimal performance.
  • Adhere to the maximum cutting depth for your model in order for the edger to operate properly:
    • RED1850Li40: 6.3-38mm
    • OED1850: 6.3-38 mm
    • RED3600: 6.3-38 mm
    • RED1220: 12-57mm
