Troubleshooting Reciprocating Saw
Safety First
- Remove the battery or unplug the tool before changing the blade
- Always wear protective gloves before any maintenance.
For Battery Models
1. Check the charge level.
- If the battery is low (2 bar or below) recharge.
2. Inspect the cutting arm assembly
- Look for any wear or obstructions, remove them if present.
3. Check if the battery is defective
- Try the battery in a different tool to determine whether the fault lies with the battery rather than the saw.
For AC (Corded) Models
1. Inspect the cord
- Look for any signs of damage or fraying, if the power cord is damaged do not plug it into power.
2. Check if the mains socket was faulty
- Plug into a different socket and test if it works.
3. Check for obstructions.
- With the saw unplugged, check the cutting arm assembly for any obstructions.
For All Models
1. Allow the tool to cool
- If the tool is overheated (thermal overload protection) the tool will need to cool before turning on again.
2. Clean tool of dust and debris
- Dust and debris can accumulate in the saw over time, leading to performance issues.
Clean the saw air vents, and any other parts that might be clogged.
If the Issue Persists
If the problem isn’t resolved and the tool is still within the warranty period, return it to Bunnings along with your receipt or proof of purchase for a warranty assessment.
