How to use a RYOBI Impact Driver's 4 pre-set driving modes

The 18V ONE+ HP Brushless 4 Mode Impact Driver has four preset driving modes: 

Mode Speed Torque (Nm) Application
1 max. 850RPM 100Nm Light screw driving
2 max. 2000RPM 180Nm Medium-duty applications
3 max. 2900RPM 300Nm Heavy-duty applications like driving and removing long fasteners
Auto Assist forward (A) max. 2900RPM 300 Nm Forward and reverse directions - for specialty screw driving applications only 

In auto-assist in forward direction:

the tool revs slowly to begin with. The slow starting speed increases control when you're setting screws working overhead, or if you're outstretched and in auto assist reverse. 

In auto-assist in reverse direction:

The motor starts with 6 pulses and increases to a controlled speed. It's designed to remove screws with damaged heads that are almost impossible to remove by other methods.
