Safe and effective belt sander operation
Important: Always wear the correct protective equipment before maintenance. Dust mask or respirator P2, FFP2, or N95.
Step 1: Use both hands
Belt sanders are powerful tools, so always use both hands to maintain control and prevent the sander from getting away from you.
Step 2: Start away from the workpiece
Secure your workpiece, turn the tool on with the sander away from the surface, and then slowly lower it onto the work.
Step 3: Go slowly
Avoid rushing and do not apply excessive pressure.
Step 4: Let the tool do the work
Allow the sander’s weight to do the sanding as you make overlapping passes.
Step 5: Keep the sander flat
Maintain a flat position and avoid tipping or changing direction abruptly, as this can damage the workpiece.
Step 6: Avoid dipping the front
Keep the sander level and prevent the front from dipping.
Step 7: Empty the dust bag regularly
The dust bag can fill quickly, so check and empty it often.
Step 8: Consider a workshop vacuum
For a cleaner working environment, connect the sander to a workshop vacuum.
