When grass wraps around a line trimmer, it can affect the cutting performance and even lead to damage.
- Turn off the unit and remove the battery.
- Examine the trimmer head to identify the extent of the grass wrapping and any potential tangles.
- Use a brush or a soft cloth to remove any loose grass and debris from the trimmer head and the surrounding area. Be careful not to damage the trimmer line in the process.
- If the grass has tightly wrapped around the trimmer line, carefully untangle it by gently pulling and unwinding the grass from the line. Avoid using sharp tools that may damage the line.
- After removing the wrapped grass, clean the trimmer head and spool thoroughly to remove any remaining debris or grass clippings.
- Check the trimmer line for any damage or excessive wear. Replace the line if it is worn out or has sustained significant damage.
To ensure grass does not get wrapped around the line trimmer again follow the below steps.
- Ensure you are using the correct line for your line trimmer
- Regularly bump to ensure there is enough line all the way out to the guard or stop start if an auto feed line.
- If you are cutting long grass, use a sweeping action cutting the grassing down in smaller strips. E.g. 30cm to 20cm on first pass, 20cm to 10cm second pass- 10cm- 3cm third pass.
